1. Meaningful and specific parts lists shall be included.  
2. Cases shall be easy to open.  
3. Batteries shall be replaceable.  
4. Special tools are allowed only for darn good reasons.  
5. Profiting by selling expensive special tools is wrong, and not making special tools available is even worse.  
6. Torx is OK; tamperproof is rarely OK.  
7. Components, not entire subassemblies, shall be replaceable.  
8. Consumables, like fuses and filters, shall be easy to access.  
9. Circuit boards shall be commented.  
10. Power from USB is good; power from proprietary power adapters is bad.  
11. Standard connectors shall have pinouts defined.  
12. If it snaps shut, it shall snap open.  
13. Screws better than glues.  
14. Docs and drivers shall have permalinks and shall reside for all perpetuity at archive.org.  
15. Ease of repair shall be a design ideal, not an afterthought.  
16. Metric or standard, not both.  
17. Schematics shall be included.

6. Torx(육각 별모양의 머리)는 괜찮다. 그리고 조작 불가능은 제한적으로 괜찮다.  
7. 부품(하위부품을 합쳐둔 것을 제외하고)은 대체가 가능해야한다.  
8. 퓨즈나 필터등의 소모성 부품은 접근(교체)이 쉬워야 한다.  
9. 회로 기판은 논쟁거리가 될 수 있다.  
10. USB를 통한 전원 공급은 환영, 독자 규격의 전원 어댑터는 나빠요.  
11. 표준 규격 단자는 핀 배치가 정의되어야 한다.  
12. 만약 snap(똑딱이)으로 닫힌다면 snap으로 열려야 한다.  
13. 나사는 풀보다 낫다.  
14. 문서나 드라이버들은 영구 주소(permarlink)를 가져야 하고 archive.org에 영구히 보관되어야 한다.  
15. 수리하기 쉬운 것은 추가된 것이 아닌 이상적인 디자인일 것이다.  
16. 미터법 혹은 표준(인치 단위를 말하는 것으로 추정) 둘 다는 안된다.  
17. 회로도(혹은 배선도)는 포함되어야 한다.
